Guess the surgeon at the hospital said the round did not exit??? A 30-06 at 200 yards should pulverize a human neck. Even with the cheapest ammo.

I saw a vid from a guy that had been special forces or some such. He had a close-up of when KIrk was hit. He said it appeared he had body armor, based on the outline shown under the t-shirt. The vid showed a hit at the top of the torso, then the next frame showed a hole in his neck. He showed a titanium plate that had a beveled edge. He speculated that Kirk was dead as soon at he was hit as the deformed bullet hit the beveled edge and deflected upward through his neck, which is why the would was so large.
[Edit] He said the titanium plate is more commonly used when wearing light clothing so as to not make it so obvious, as it is lighter and thinner, but spalling is more likely, and the angled top more likely to cause injury or death, as what apparently happened in this instance.

I heard he was wearing armor also but generally the lighter stuff is for pistol ammo. Wonder what kind he had that would have to a deflect a 30-06 from a relatively downward angle and deflect it up?
In parts of the video the way he would sit looked like he had a vest on. He was a wearing a t shirt. Level IV light will stop a 7.62x39 but a 30-06? Not impossible but….

Not titanium, though, it can stop rifle rounds, but more likely for spalling to be a problem, especially in a minimalist configuration, which is likely what he was wearing.
My prior post explained that the armor has a beveled edge, and the blogger, based on the video of the hit, said it appeared to hit the beveled edge, get deformed and deflect into his neck, hence the large wound.

Believe it or not the issue that REALLY makes my Tin Foil Hat Vibrate is ‘THE PLANE’ leaving right after (as mentioned in Roger’s post and The RADAR being shut off! I don’t want to be a ghoul and see the wound but maybe CLOUSURE would be an Autopsy photo. Leaving this up to our Imaginations this is what you get! EVERYONE HAS A CELLPHONE! and we get Extremely ‘Limited, Grainy’ vids and THAT’S IT? HARDLY!
