Exactly

Everyone’s thoughts and theories surrounding this topic,
AND being utilized, is “ONE IN THE CHAMBER”!
I believe
BIDEN said
something or other about “100 ROUNDS IN THE CHAMBER”
Carry one in the chamber!
I disagree that that was one tiny overlooked detail. The first time I watched the video in real time, other than “he’s the instigator”, my other main takeaway was “the guy who pushed him once was turning and walking away empty handed”. It was plain as day, to me, in real time, the first time, that there was absolutely no reasonable fear of imminent serious bodily harm or death, at the time he decided to pull the trigger.
Plus the fact that he initiated the whole thing trying to be parking lot patrol, and rather aggressively based on body language and posturing + physical proximity to the person he was badgering in the video
Why everybody is so convinced about having a round in the chamber?
I prefer different approach: carry your firearm the way you are efficient, persistent and effective. You see the threat and you stop it. Chambered or not - the final result must be exactly how you expect it.
It’s not important how you carry. What is important - are you consistent with your expected results.
Don’t be tied to common statements. Do your job the way which works best for you !
I don’t think I dragged anyone through anything.
Superb exogenous of all areas of concern! Very thought provoking.
I agree

You may be new to forums (which is just about the worst way people can communicate). If everyone who has your question started a new thread, we’d never dig our way out and no one would get complete answers. It is customary to search first, and reply to an existing thread if the topic is the same/close. Just a thought.
LOVE IT…
Completely Understood. I really don’t want anyone to take the reply out of context (which is extremely easy to do in a forum) research of a specific topic should have been the order of operation initially.
My 2 cents…
You are going to have to make your own decision. However, I suggest one thing:
Whatever you decide (and yes, you are allowed to change your mind over time) I suggest practicing it at the range. For example, sometimes I carry a firearm with a safety. However, when I practice at the range, I switch the safety on after every string of fire (I tend to shoot in five round strings… not rapid). After a few mags of constantly switching the safety on and then off before bringing the sights back on target and restarting a string I had a better idea of whether this was a process I am OK with for my personal CCW. I also rented pistols with different types of manual safeties and decockers.
You could do something similar for the rounds chambered question. I would pay attention to the time it takes between charging the pistol, acquiring the target, and getting that first shot off (remember to keep your finger off of the trigger until the sights are on target). Becoming familiar with the process will give you experience and a better understanding of the pros and cons of the idea.
For me, my most carried firearm does not have a safety and I keep a round in the chamber.
Information from various vantage points are extremely valuable to me personally. The initial question was not posed for me to personally chose how I would carry my firearm but to get an overall view of the various views across the country because each person situation would be considerablelly different based upon a number of parameters. In closing, this is a great community with members sharing various points of consideration that need to be seriously discussed. We are not vigilantes, regardless of what some who oppose firearms in the hands of citizens say.
Echo chamber: My 2 cents, why handicap yourself not carrying chambered?
If you are not chambered and a bad guy intent on ambushing you has the advantage of a-being chambered, b-has bad intentions he knows about; but you have neither, you are that much further behind to start with.
He gets confrontational and you are both equally quick at the draw.
All he has to do is pull his trigger, while you have to chamber a round first.
It’s a big disadvantage you put yourself at. It’s a big problem.
The answer to the problem as stated is you get dead first.
Or, you realize you are short changing your loved ones, and carry chambered.
Hopefully, your situational awareness helps overcome not knowing the bad guy’s intentions but, you are quick enough to get up to speed to overcome that disadvantage without having to chamber a round too.
It’s just common sense to be as ready to meet bad guy challenges without giving anything away that you don’t have to.
It’s bad enough the bad guy doesn’t have to think about his justification, he doesn’t care.
He could kill you while you ponder your justification to defend yourself, and you still have to chamber your first round.
Like in a movie the dramatic effect of racking a shotgun shell?
When in reality if the other guy is chambered, the last thing you hear is his round going off, not yours.
What if?
The bad guy has the drop on you?
His gun is in his hand, and pointed at you?
Your gun is in its holster, under its cover garment, your hand nowhere near it?
Oh, and your chamber is empty?
Pray that the bad guy is not a senseless killer?
Hello, i live in Fresno county and we can have up to 6 guns on our ccw and we can carry 2 at one time and as many magazines as we want but no more than a 10 round magazine is legal, i hope this helps , but remember check your local laws as they may vary, please stay safe and legal.
I do not see any scenario that requires an immediate reaction where having an empty chamber benefits you. Every second matters in a life or death situation.
I carry chambered.
As I will not be the one to knowingly bring myself into a situation where a firearm becomes necessary, I understand that, at the very least, the initial set of circumstances will be largely dictated by another. For that reason, I have chosen to eliminate as many steps as possible so that I can to react to the event that has been brought to me effectively and efficiently. Chambering a round is one such step eliminated.
With regard to how a potential DA may attempt to portray this decision and/or how a potential judge/jury may view or interpret that decision (to carry chambered)…I would rather have the increased odds of being there to defend that decision than to have my friends, family and news report viewers say, “he would have been quicker to react had he had one chambered”.
A voice of sanity and reason Zold. Good Morning Brother.
