I like these so much I now have 5000. ![]()
Ooops… One too many zeros. lol. 5000
Another item not mentioned is a good walking stick, I make my own so everyone around me has one.
I’m working on one now and have 5 drying. This year it’s Black Cherry and Apple wood. ![]()
LOL, we used to use 50# bags of lime every spring and fall, many, many years ago. ![]()
What if you don’t have water to make it expand? ![]()
I always carried unscented baby wipes in a plastic bag. Those things will clean anything. Used them for work when I was in construction and still keep them around. Another option is individual sanitary wipes. I buy them Walmart and keep them in the car.
As an amateur radio op, I would say get a license, even at the lowest level, you would have regional communication capabilities on 10-meter Phone (voice). There is a bit of studying involved, but it is not hard at all. As others have said, you have a great grasp on Bug Out Bags.
I settled on three back packs, one larger duffel bag, and one micro bag.
The larger “duffel-bag” kept in my vehicle, in case I’m out in the field and need a few day’s worth supply.
One backpack in the home in case my car’s stolen.
One backpack at work, in case I need to walk home from work, or my car’s stolen while a work, like a get home bag.
One backpack in my vehicle, in case I need to separate from my car, run out of gas, or walk home, like a get home bag.
My micro is only about 4" x 1" x 5", to fit in a side cargo pant pocket, (barest essentials) with a 5-50 paracord on the outside as a shoulder strap (in case I don’t bring a back pack or get separated from my main pack).
Each differ in contents, but also have some similarities, such as water, mini first aid kits, snacks, fire starters, flashlight, bug spray, baseball cap, compass, hand sanitizer.
Had a few embarrassingly scary close calls, trying to not get caught unprepared again.
Heard that an “ideal bug out bag should weigh between 15 - 25 pounds, keeping your mobility and endurance in mind. A fully loaded bag should not exceed 10% to 20% of your total body weight, depending on your physical fitness”.
