Hello! I am 51 yr old. I am new to handguns, but have been shooting long guns for years. The handgun I chose for myself is the Ruger Security 9.
I live in the beautiful mitten state {Michigan}, and the way things have been changing in the world, I knew it was time to do what I have been wanting to do for a long while, get a handgun to protect myself, home, and family.
I am working on overcoming a few unique challenges. I am medically disabled, for starters. I have Gastroparesis (paralyzed stomach), so I get 100% of my nutrition through a surgically placed feeding tube 24/7. When I begin my day, I put this into a backpack, and I have been feeling like a neon target lately, when I am out in public. I REFUSE to let this stop me from living my life!!
I have been married now for 28 years. We have 4 grown children, and 7 grandchildren. We travel when we can, enjoy riding motorcycle (me as rider). I am active in my church.
I am dedicated to learning and reading everything I can get my hands on about owning, training, and doing everything legally in regards to being a handgun owner. I recently took my CPL/CCW course.
I am looking forward to keep learning from USCCA and it’s members.
