When Teddy Roosevelt Explored the Bigfoot Legend

@ Like I think William said books are always better and different than movies with the same titles at least I’ve always heard that but I don’t read the books, I do read them and am in the middle of a big one about Grant, not Carry Grant but The General/President lol. I had no idea it would take so much reading before getting to the Civil War but I knew what kind of man he was before reading about it.

Lincoln was quite the bad ass and used to fight for money , h311 his father rented him out for extra money to pay bills and the like but Ave fought to get money to buy books with. I don’t hate Teddy I’m just not a guy who is big on killing animals unless you’re going to eat them. Bear ? Good eating, Moose? Good eating but noone is gonna tell me he eats elephants or Cape buffalo and lions and the like. The man just loved putting animals down for no other reason than he liked to drop them. I don’t hunt but I have a couple friends I loan loaner guns to so they can bag deer and give me sum of the meat, I eat it and mix some of it in my dogs food. People ask me “ why haven’t you shot a deer?” And I say “ IDK I guess one hasn’t pizzed me off yet” lol but anyhow He has done a lot for the country like State Parks and federal land like Yellowstone and such.

You do realize they (Da White Man) used the meat from the kills to feed the porters and a whole village with an Elephant.
Still do today.

How would you rather die?

Or this?

As I said, “Dont judge them by todays norms”. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Yea I thought about that so I’ll go ahead and say I was wrong because I know that’s what happens how the kills do benefit nearby villages but none the less that’s how people who just love to kill animals who are just trying to get by justify what they like to do. I mean I know people who kill deer to get the rack and leave them there, somehow it makes some people feel like more of a man by killing animals but if that’s their hobby then that’s their binnus but I just don’t happen to like it , but I’m sure some people don’t like some things I may do so I guess it’s just a to each his own and if I were hungry or had to feed my family I’d hunt I’m sure of that.

I think culling is a valid reason to hunt/kill animals. Animals like coyotes are or can be dangerous to children. Have you seen the video of a coyote getting ready to attacked by one when her father came out and scared it away? Not to mention they kill your pets. Around here skunks and opossums can be dangerous since they carry rabies and do damage to your home. I have a neighbor that keeps the coyote population down and I’m glad he does.

Over the past decade in the U.S. about 50 people a year have been killed by domestic dogs (our pets). In a quick search I could only find one case in the entire history of the U.S. where a coyote killed a person. I’m not saying they can’t be dangerous but we are far more likely to be struck by lightning than attacked by a coyote. It would make far more sense to cull free ranging dogs than coyotes if our goal is to keep kids safe.

Other interesting facts about coyotes:

They didn’t exist east of the Mississippi River before the 1940s if I am remembering correctly. It was the removal of Eastern Wolves that allowed them to extend their range to the east and they actually bread with the rapidly declining wolf populations as they spread. It is believed this is why Eastern coyotes are noticeably larger than western coyotes.

Coyotes also have a breading defense mechanism that causes them to have larger litter sizes when their population drops in an area so killing coyotes almost always leads to more coyotes. Sure you can do those massive culling hunts and get them completely out of an area for a short time but in a couple of years they will be back. Likely in even greater numbers.

But I am not against hunting. Hunting, when managed properly, is an important and necessary tool for maintaining healthy forests and healthy wild animal population.
