Worked in carpentry/ construction field early part of my life. Retired from State of Alaska, FRED Division (Fisheries Rehabilitation, Enhancement and Development) . . . in other words, Hatcheries Division. Maintenance guru (jack of all trades, master of none) except for maybe being state licensed electrician. Traveled around the state to mostly remote sites accessible only by air or boat. Spent some serious time at places where the world could have come to an end and wouldn’t have known it for quite awhile. No radio, no TV, no telephone, no computer access. Phone calls could be made at certain times of day, weather permitting, thru Marine radio connection. Received groceries and supplies via barge, every two weeks, weather permitting. Received mail every two weeks via float plane, weather permitting. Other than that, pretty normal Alaska lifestyle . . .
Now days . . . Alaska during the warmer months, April / May thru September / October, weather permitting. Nevada, Arizona area for winters.
