XD9 and Holsters

Hi Everyone…

I own a Springfield XD9 and was hoping someone could give me some good ideas on holsters for it. I’d appreciate any feedback.

Thanks and glad to be a member of USCCA.

I don’t shoot the 9mm but have XD’s and XDm’s in both 40 and 45 acp.

Honestly the XD gear el cheapo that comes with it is a very good holster for CC.

If a higher level of retention protection is desired the Fobus XDCH is my choice.

I prefer about a 3:30-4:00 hip carry and paddle holsters since they allow you to shift carry position with ease for comfort and ease of access whether I’m walking, working, at the desk, driving etc and nothing I’ve found offers the same ease of adjustment and security.

The Fobus Rotator is a very close second. It lacks the positive physical lock but the molded design is extremely snug making snatches and dislodging very difficult.

Six? :face_with_monocle: You must love them. I want to get the XDS next. It looks like a nice and sweet firearm.

I’m considering an XDS, also considering a small pocket .380.

I really like my double stacks but for deep concealment single stacks are far more practical.

I’m also a big fan of keeping all of your self defense handguns as similar as possible so no matter which one you grab or carry on a given day the muscle memory remains the same.

I found some good stat’s the other day showing that in only .02% of civilian self defense shootings did the good guy have to reload so I’m reconsidering my own high capacity preference.

I have an XDs in .45ACP. I love it.

I don’t love the cost of .45ACP though. I also wish it held more rounds…oh well.

Cost is the beauty about 9mm.

@Jorge Not sure how I missed this post…

Do you have a preference for leather or kydex? Cost? Carry position?

I started with the XD9 Service back when it was the HS2000, I currently have an XD9 mod.2 Service (have a couple of XDm’s in the family as well).

Vedder, Concealment Solutions Cobra, and a few others make good kydex ones. For leather, MTR, Winthrop and DeSantis. All of the above are Outside the Waist holsters. For inside I have heard good things about Crossbreed.

No worries. My preference is kydex, OWB. I have heard a lot of good things about Crossbreed. I contacted Springfield asking for recommendations and they suggested I contact Crossbreed. :man_shrugging:

It’s a conundrum. Nothing feels more natural or comfortable than leather, nothing secures a gun as well as a properly fit kydex holster.

Interesting ideas. Just to add to the topic what others recommend for a Springfield XD subcompact 3"? Thank you in advance for the help. Cheers!

I hae good success with my Aliengear Clock Tuck holster. I have a Springfield XD and XDS. Very comfortable and easy to adjust.

Thanks for the idea @mdvmedic!
