It’s all about the politics of distraction and the “shiny penny.”

Stock market has the Dow down about 1,700 points as investors anticipate an escalating Trump tariff war that affects firms’ costs and, for firms that export, their revenues. Lower corporate profitability. Inflation still around.

“Hey! Look over there. We NEED Greenland to preserve our national security!!!” It’s critical to our national existence!"

Residents of Greenland have no desire to become a US Territory, and why would they? Look at the quality of life of US Citizens living in Puerto Rico, Guam or US Samoa. Living in a US territory holds little advantage and a lot of disadvantages.

LOL you are so out of touch it is amazing. Didn’t one of your reps a few years ago claim that Gaum was going to capsize due to the US military presence? LOL That did not happen either.

That’s mainly because they are in the Caribbean and easily forgoten about. Alaska before it became a state would be a better example.

And those who live there will not have representation in Washington and will not be able to vote. Those two reasons right there are why I would never live in a US territory. Puerto Rico has regularly been screwed by Washington especially with changes to Section 936.

True, but there are also have much less regulations, pay less taxes, and follow less laws. This is why Puerto Rico has not really advocated for state status and have even shot down several plans to do so.

Puero Rico has voted 4 times now to become a state in 2012, 2017, 2020 and 2024, however Congress is not going to give them Statehood status. Now if the indigenous of Greenland get the same deal that the indigenous of Alaska received then I could see where the people may opt to want to join the US. However with 89% of the population being indigenous it would become a giant welfare state
