My dad did exactly this with my sister. There was one guy who wasn’t intimidated by it. They’ve been married 25 years now. 😁

The first time I picked-up, my now wife, there was a police vehicle in the driveway and her brother was home eating dinner at the dining table in his uniform. I was not intimidated, either, as I was accustomed to seeing LEOs as I had worked at a convenience store for a couple years in my youth. I also had a couple of friends that were LEOs. After we left she said that was her brother. I told her that I assumed it was a friend or family based on the way the vehicle was parked, no lights on, then inside, him at the table having dinner. I do not intimidate easily.

You are spot on. I agree. Their relationship was interesting. Their dates usually consisted of him coming to our house and hanging out. He went to work early in the morning and worked long days. He came to our house when he got off of work and mostly fell asleep on the couch watching TV. At 11 pm or so my mom would wake him up and tell him to go home. He was probably 19 or 20 and my sister was a year or so older than that.
They are in their mid 40’a now and still spend a lot of time at my parents house or my parents at their house. The grand kids come and go to my parents house as if they own the place.
Also, my mom always let teenage boys know she didn’t trust them. 😁

I used to show my daughters’ boy friends my Swiss Army Knife (camping model with nasty looking saw blade) and jokingly say that I know they will behave themselves, so I wouldn’t have to plead guilty to performing surgery without a license.
None of them ever asked if I was joking or tested me. LOL

Not only Dads but sons & brothers. I have been the protector for my Mother, Sisters, Wife & daughter. When my father was alive, he was a perfect gentleman unless you were disrespectful or abusive in any way toward any of the above. He would make things “up close & personal” and spell it out in no uncertain terms. He was a former NFL & CFL offense guard. A gentle giant. I was blessed with his size but boxing was my sport. I’m 6’3, 255lbs. In 1979 I was in the Navy & my father had a conversation with me about a man my younger sister was living with & what he was doing to her. He devised a plan for me to fly in from Fla. & take care of the problem then fly back that night. We never heard from him again. Dad asked me to do it because he was afraid that he would kill him & be unable to provide for the rest of my family. Sometimes men have to work together to rid evil.

This is really funny. Keep a component of humor in this type of conversation, and dont overdo it. Remember boys also have fathers, dont trigger any protective instincts there.

In reference to both your post and Ruger9, when I was around 18 I came home from work to find my sister sitting in our parents kitchen with a black eye. When asked what happened I was told that some guy has come up to her and punched her. I guess the look on my face and change in my demeanor was what they were after. The began laughing and told me she had actually just fallen. She was was flattered that I cared about her honor enough to defend it.

My cousin got beat up by her “boy friend”. My grandpa heard about it and called the guy, told him to pack his stuff and leave. He didn’t so grandpa made another call. The guy actually didn’t leave but turned out to be the perfect husband. Oh, did I mention, my moms side of the family are Scarcelli’s, very well connected to the “family” from Sicily.

I only have Grandsons at the moment, but the kids keep trying. I can’t wait to be sitting on the porch with my dog and cleaning a gun if/when my granddaughter brings the “Right Guy” over.
