It makes it frighteningly easy to do terrible things to people when you de-humanize them.
Branding whole groups of people as deplorables, then simply as garbage, makes the idea of violence against them acceptable for the followers of those that are doing the dehumanizing.
We’re not even human anymore, just garbage to be taken out. But they’re the party of joy and unity, so it’s all okay.
