I’m kinda late chiming in on this thread. I had just thought “Wouldn’t it be nice if there were an EDC knife thread?” I did the search…lo and behold…an EDC Knife thread.
LOTS of good knives listed. All excellent choices.
I have two I carry on me every day. One is an old Kershaw Tremor model 1950 with the “SPEEDSAFE” assisted opening. I found it in my backyard many years ago and it has been my constant companion since. The other I carry is in the form of a VIctorynox Swiss X multitool. It is much more expensive than others, but is in my opinion the best multitool on the market. I have broken Leatherman, I have broken Gerber, several others…but I have not broken this one.
During the week when I carry my laptop bag with me back and forth to work, I have two additional knives available if needed. One is a Buck 110 Folding Hunter and the other is a Buck 120 General fixed blade. In my desk drawer at work is another Buck, the 625 Tanto.
In the Expedition I have a fiberglass handled roofing ax on the left side of the driver’s seat and an 18-inch Wilkinson 1903 bayonet from an early model Lee Enfield rifle. Those are always in the truck.
In my GH/BO bag in the Expedition is another Buck 110 Folding Hunter, a Buck 225 fillet knife and a SOG Survivalhawk Tomahawk.
At home there are more knives than I can shake a stick at.
Can’t go wrong with anything from Victorynox.
My main edc knife is a Emerson, quite a few actually. I also carry a Chris Reeve Umnumzaan. I prefer the Emerson
because of the wave opener, it’s opens as I pull it from my pocket
Greetings, Sven. Welcome to the forum. We’re glad you found us.
NICE EDC pair.
Welcome to the family brother @SVEN1 and we are glad you joined us.
Mine is a CRKT Homefront, I absolutely love this knife since it’s easy to field strip and clean, was even one of the reasons I was hired at my current company. During my interview they wanted me to give an example of something I felt was engineered to perfection. I pulled out the knife and proceeded to field strip it in front of them then reassembled it.
I’d have to answer a question with a question.
Which one?
Thought I’d share this vid on knife use in self defense. The speaker posts that he has a 5th degree black belt in a martial art. I noticed some of the blades used are actually small, which I thought interesting as some cities only legally allow for a certain blade length.
He talks about taking concealment to a higher level. I never thought of that. Is such level of concealment transferable to firearms?
In thinking bout the legalities of the use of knife force in self defense:
Are there times we should not yet draw our knives? When is it appropriate to draw a knife? Should we never draw to display, but only draw at the moment we are ready to use it directly on the perpetrator assailant/attacker we are facing?
I may be having to travel this month to an environment which does not allow firearms, so it got me thinking about EDC of the knife:
I carried a Benchmade Griptillian for the last two years. I have replaced it with the new Microtech Ultratech ZBP Gen III D/E OTF Automatic Knife Black Al (3.5" Black). It’s a little pricey but worth every penny. Super sharp and deploys and retracts with a firm lockup. The first OTF I have found with absolutely zero blade play! If you’re looking for some excellent blades I highly recommend the BladeHQ website. They have a ton of great blades for all price ranges and quality.
Got a minor cut today.
This HK Böker is fairly new and I had a hard time opening with one hand. It’s usually in front pocket with car and house keys.
It was in position as pictured when I reached for my keys. Strange.

I’m still hopeful that my lost USCCA Kershaw will show up in my garage.
