What does the war feel like in your community?

I find that the news casts are addictive and there certainly is a war going on, but other than high gas prices, what are you feeling in your town that makes you feel like there is a war going on?

The local Air Guard fighter squadron has been especially active all day, but they drill on the first weekend of the month anyway and I admit to enjoying the sound of those F-15s. A young man from our church is a sergeant in the army reserve and has been deployed to the middle east well before the air war started. He is in our prayers of course.
Still, there isn’t any discernable difference I can feel between being at war and peacetime.
If course I’m not exactly in a “military” town where it’s probably much different.

What’s the feeling like in your town?

Well, besides gas price gauging at the pumps, here in NM, seems like business as usual, just continuing on with everyday life. Not much action going on around the air bases that is noticeable other than on higher alert, not a peek around the National Guard areas other than on a higher alert also, including all Police agencies.

Business as usual and thankful for warmer weather so I can ride and cut my fuel costs in half. SacSheriff and PD reports still feature the usual suspects. But, I will not be complacent. Condition yellow/orange.

We have the normal traffic of C-130’s daily and CH-47’s, a couple Osprey and F-5’s lately and once in a while a couple of F-18’s

Nothing so far but it’s been cold and snowing here. Better weather in the forecast tomorrow so I’d suspect we’ll see the fair weather zealots show up on state street tomorrow…

Gas prices have gone up about 10 cents a gallon per day for the past 3-4 days. If it keeps on it will be over 3$ a gallon tomorrow. Everyone seems oblivious really and carrying on as usual.

I have been quietly getting oil changed, stocking up on oil for an older vehicle that drinks oil like tea. Topping off vehicles with gas. Filling up a few gas cans tomorrow … for lawn mowers of course.

I think the only thing we will notice right now is slow rising prices on a lot of stuff. Rising fuel will affect shipping which is of course passed to us. I don’t think the masses will be jolted until/if there is a terrorist attack (911 2.0) on U.S. soil.

I don’t watch mainstream news much. Get most news from X (formerly twitter) but you have to be careful of junk news there too. The independent journalists are pretty good and I follow several ex-military folks who give good advice on what to do in case of attacks here.

Military base about 30 miles from me has been unusually quiet. My house is in their training path. I’ve missed seeing them fly over. I pray this is all over soon and nothing happens here, but you never know.

Normal amount of around 1,000 flight operations per day at O’Hare Airport. :upside_down_face: No changes.

Diesel price went up  … but it is still manageable. :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:
Other than that… everything is normal.

Diesel has gone up about 60 cents a gallon. The protestors on the usual corner of Houdini Plaza have a different flag. Otherwise, nothing has changed.

Nothing new in my small town, except like what was mentioned on fuel. Diesel is at 5.00 a gallon and gas jumped a dollar to 3.69. Everyone knew that would happen.

Same as everyone else day to day nothing new fuel prices up

All quiet on the western front.
Talking with neighbors we’re all on the same island!

What this is beginning to look like is Irans Pearl Harbor.
If it is, what’s preventing them from a large scale dirty bomb attack?
After the dirty bomb attack and a demoralizing effect on our population that’s when the sleeper cells will take control!
Or is this just the last chapter of a bad novel?

What war.

Nobody really seems to care in my area. Except the loonies protesting in front of my courthouse every Saturday about anything and everything. But nobody cares about them either, so it’s business as usual.

Welp, Lesee all the C (Cargo) 130’s are gone elsewhere (my guess is GITMO Shuttle services), the AC130 Gunships (8) Left the base recently when Trumpo started his little war making Drug speedboats Submarines. NO Fighters on the base @ all.
This is a Blu State so the protesters just changed Flags from Ukraine to Pride to Kentucky Fried Chicken—Nuthin’ to see here folk’s. Have all the Illegal ALIENS gone home on their own?
Demon-crats have a short attention span (Like Gnats!)
Gas is up Diesel is $4.59

The only real WAR news was Pete Hegseth announced IRAN (Proxies) tried to Kill Trump TWICE since this latest sandbox shake up started.

I don’t see anything around me that suggests we’re at war, strange as that may sound. Yes, gas prices are creeping up but hey, they seem to do so everytime someone sneezes in the middle east. I am extremely thankful, though, that my son who was in Abu Dhabi got out the day before the bombing started and airports got shut down. Actually, the airport he flew out of was hit the following day and one person killed. Talk about close call.

So, did anyone change their EDC setup since Khamenei met his 72 virgins?

I for one used to have just one spare mag, now carry two, total 31 rounds. Mild reaction, I know.

Nope, haven’t changed my set up. Whether gas prices or threats, not gonna change my routine.

Luckily my area stays pretty calm, if I lived near a big city it might change though

No change in the EDC set-up department (for me @ least)
Also no change in my Condition Orange (most of the time)
Since there’s no U.S. Boots on the ground (hopefully) it’s like
listening to File Footage of past actions.
Still carry current Taurus G3c set-up (one extra mag) 25 rounds.
(Plus the LAW rocket in the Jag, Grenades in the glove box and a newly
installed ejector passenger seat after I deployed the last one on a pesky neighbor… WHAT? :squinting_face_with_tongue:)

A bit more F15 flyovers but not by much. I was out on the mountain a couple days back, heard one going by and wished I was 100 yards up so I could have seen it from the cliff. My phone rang, wife called excited and happy, as the pilot saw her wave, tilted the wings and circled overhead. I saw these guys, no “caws” for alarm.

Road rage has been turned up to 11. There’s crap stacked high, everywhere. Within a 45 minute time period, I needed to prepare to draw 3 times. Thankfully, no shots fired. The air feels thick, humid and has an odd, undefinable stench; very weird. People are hoarding the dumbest things. Honestly, I fear for my life. People blocking lanes, screaming at one another as though Armageddon is upon us. There’s also a very uncomfortable feeling of being watched with every step, at every turn, and from every direction. Feels like nowhere is safe.

Once I left WalMart, everything seemed normal, aside from a bit of an increase in fuel prices.

Used to be my go-to store but work provided me a Costco card so I can make once or twice a month shopping and avoid the crowd. For little purchases, I blend in as a grey man with the libs at Trader Joe’s.
