What do I do with my gun?

Lots of good advice given so read each of the community’s input. An emphasis is you do not unload your weapon. Call USCCA, then call 911 and request law enforcement and medical assistance for the person down and for yourself. When police arrive, follow their instructions and ask for a receipt for the weapon. Above all, do not talk to the police, be polite and assure the police you want to cooperate only through legal counsel.

Call 911 FIRST! Then call the USCCA or have a family/friend call on your behalf. You are a law abiding citizen who has had to defend themselves, calling the police first is the right thing to do.

I 100% agree with following the police’s instructions - and get a receipt for the firearm.
