Thank you so much! It’s certainly a fascinating subject.
Is it safe to say you’re a fan of Glock?

It is indeed safe. ![]()
I like the simplicity, ease of cleaning, familiarity, reliability, pricing and in the case of the 43x, the ease of concealment and comfort.
Glocks are like the A-10 Warthogs of handguns. Many to most think they’re ugly, but their robust, purpose built features protect their operator while performing the task required.
I am inclined to agree. If I didn’t have so many double-stack magazines for my Glocks and PCC-type firearms, I would have likely gotten into the X series.
Don’t get me wrong, I still covet a larger, 1 1/2 stack mag capacity without going aftermarket.
Wow! Outstanding! Thank you for service!
We welcome you, wish you all the best, and hope to learn from your experiences.
Enjoy.

My name is Sean and I’m a new member. I’m a retired police officer of 28 years and 6 years US Army before that. In 2009 I took a leave of absence from work and spent two years working as a security contractor in Afghanistan. I have carried a gun my entire adult life in a professional and personal capacity.
I am not ignorant to think that I “know it all”. I continue to strive to learn everyday. I know I will enjoy the protections that USCCA provides AS WELL as the training opportunities.
Greetings, Sean, and welcome to the community. I thank you for your service to country and community!!
Thank you for your service!
Welcome, you’re in the right place! ![]()

Who are you? - My name is Nik. I’m in my late 40’s.
What got you interested in carrying and self-defense? - I have always been fascinated by several different types of self defense, with particular interest in CQB. I got interested in carrying when a loved one was almost a victim of auto theft while still being inside the vehicle.
How long have you been training for your self-defense? - In several different ways since I was a young child.
What formal training have you had? - Most of it has been self study with a few months of TKD (which I wouldn’t really call self defense), some sit-ins with some Scientific Fighting advocates, and research about Chris Sajnog’s New Rules of Marksmanship (which I would highly recommend for any new or seasoned responsible firearms owner).
What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten regarding your self-defense? Fight with your mind first, and remember that a street fight is not Friday night at Caesar’s Palace.
What’s your favorite gun? - The Beretta 92xi. It’s the beautiful hybrid of the 92 series and the 1911.
How often do you train? - I train my mind and body often. I also participate in dry fire exercises when possible.
How have you gotten your friends and family involved? - My mother had a phobia of firearms since she was a teenager after a family member lost their life. Within the past couple of years, I have spent time mentally and physically training her how to operate several types of firearms and the four cardinal rules of responsible firearms ownership (1. Always know the condition of your firearm, 2. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, 3. Finger off the trigger until you are ready and sighted in, 4. Be aware of your target and what is behind it). On her 70th birthday she didn’t just hit paper, she hit center mass at 3, 5, and 10 yards with a Shadow Systems MR920 Combat. It became her birthday present.
What do you hope to learn from others in the USCCA Community? - It would just be good to speak with like minded people about things related to ownership and defense. Every day is a new opportunity to learn something. I am grateful for that.
Greetings & welcome to the community!!
I want to personally thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself. Lately people just show up and prop their muddy shoes on the sofa.
It’s no trouble. I recognize we are not to that stage of the relationship, yet. ![]()
What part of the country do you reside in?
I live in the Midwest.
I have more respect for him than the last several ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ that have shown up preaching their bullshit telling everyone here that they are wrong.
It is nice to see someone take the time to introduce themselves instead of going straight to the kitchen sink to take a piss. ![]()
That’s right.
I haven’t seen this habit for a long time. This thread was created for a reason and whoever starts posting here gets respect.
Now, it is our role to convince @zeroability to buy a new Staccato. ![]()
Sorry, I already bought a Prodigy and tricked it a little. Atlas 1pc guide rod and a EGW slide stop so you can actually manipulate it properly. You know what they say about the 1911. You spend $1k for the unit, and another $1k to make it shoot properly.
Welcome aboard. Don’t let the nay-sayers pull you down.
