It’s a pleasure to meet you and we’re thankful that you’ve chosen to join us. Take some time browsing the existing threads as there are several which discuss, recommend and describe EDC firearms, lots of useful information and great insight from the community.
A recommendation that you’ll see quite often, and one that I subscribe to, is to put your hands on as many varying handguns as you can, see if your local range rents firearms and speak with a local USCCA Instructor who I am certain would be a great resource in assisting choosing a firearm that meets your needs, is sized appropriately for you and that meets your expectations.
Good luck to you, my friend and, again, welcome aboard.
Welcome to the family brother @LTstonz26 and we are glad you have joined us. The fact that you are carrying it doesn’t matter what kind it is, what’s important is that you are carrying. Training is crucial in this journey. Stay safe and carry on.
ron i agree, you cant beat a glock for dependability. as a retired leo and glock armorer i have been a “glock guy” for years. i have drifted away a little to springfield hellcats and xd’s however i still have a g27 and 43x in my edc rotation. what i carry depends on where i am going and how i will be dressed.
normally the springfield hellcat. the hellcat has 11, 13, and 15 rd mags available, it a 3" barrel and i run the federal 124g hst federal ammo. the gel test (conducted by luckeygunner.com) show the hst ammo penetrates and expands best out of the shorter barrel (less than 4") guns.
Hi everyone, and happy Thanksgiving! I’m Brian, and I am a relatively new handgun owner. I purchased my first handgun two weeks ago for personal defense, and immediately signed up for a beginner’s course. I enjoyed the course and have been obsessed with training since. My most recent purchase has been the Sig Sauer P226 Legion. I’m hoping to eventually settle into a rhythym of practice of once every other week. I have had two of my children come with me to the range and/or lessons. I’m looking forward to sharing wisdom and perspective with those similarly minded in terms of responsibly owning and handling their weapon(s).
Hi everyone, my name is Younes, I am new to the USCCA community and happy yo be a member of a great organization.
I live in Virginia/DC Metropolitan area, I have owned guns for decades but decided to conceal carry recently, and pursuing my permits in multiple states especially the hard ones, DC, NY and NJ.
I typically hit the range once or twice a month to practice.
Welcome to the family brother @Younes and we are happy that you are with us. I wish you luck on your permit applications. Stay safe and continue to train.
Happy to be here. 23 year combat vet of US Army Special Forces. I have been carrying my whole adult life. Veteran of the Cold War, War on Drugs and the Global War on Terror. I like the local USCCA rep and his classes, so even though I am a member of CCW Safe, I joined here. Looking forward to the new year.
Welcome we are all getting older & time slips up on us real fast. And sure no shame on that. We all age and you & I feel it. And I can still handle myself in hand to hand combat but not as much as I used to because of my health as well. and no shame on that. We are in the same boat so welcome. I sure have learned a lot as well.
