I’ll be shocked if defunding the ATF passes the House, the Senate and does not get vetoed by the President. Just like Republicans have complained about the EPA for more than 1/2 century, and accomplished nothing, they will just as ineffective with scaling back the ATF. This is just Republicans pandering for votes in the 2024 election. I’m not too excited about the dysfunctional Republican House making defunding noises.
I believe we are witnesses to the implosion and death of the Republican party. It has divided itself into MAGA Republicans and Uniparty Republicans. Those two branches of the Republican party are more concerned with defeating other Republicans than winning a general election against the socialists who call themselves Democrats.
