2nd incident like this in recent news. What happened to not protecting mere property with deadly force?
This is kind of amusing, as well as disappointing more than a little unsurprising. An SS agent opens fire on suspects breaking in cars outside of Janet Yellens home after an altercation with same. A statement was issued stating: " There was no threat to any of the protectees and no protectees were harmed." And yet, it was still necessary for them to open fire on the suspects anyway. It was reported that no one was hit. (Makes you wonder where the shots ended up, doesn’t it?)
Contrast this on how “officialdom” would react if “peons and commoners” were to act in an identical manner if we were presented with the exact same situation in our neighborhoods? No further information of any action taken with regard to the SS man involved. Must be nice to have a badge.
From Utah LAw
76-2-402. Force in defense of person – Forcible felony defined.
(c) “Forcible felony” does not include burglary of a vehicle, as defined in Section 76-6-204, unless the vehicle is occupied at the time unlawful entry is made or attempted.
So that says it wouldn’t be justified in Utah…
If shooting resulted from the altercation,
not the burglary,
I can see how it might be justified.
Agreed!
Ahh, therein lies the rub. They’re what mere mortals like us call “professionals.”
They had training, they were given badges, and they were provided with loaded guns. Professionals.
Plenty of stories on the inter web about professionals shooting at people driving “deadly weapons,” plus firing - in self defense - at lesser humans carrying knives and bats and hammer.
Those are the similar situations that a District Attorney would try unprofessionals for over reaching in such circumstances.
Just saying.
Yeah,I mean, the agent missed the perp anyways, so no harm, no foul, right? I wouldn’t be surprised if the agent went to the bar afterwards so he could execute… his latest dance moves.
Note event took place in DC. Iirc, only criminals are allowed to have guns in DC.
Appears Secret Service not bound by the same rules and laws we commoners are bound to follow. If I shot at someone trying to break into my car, I would be facing prison time in Dane Co. Wisconsin. We are taught here with USCCA and elsewhere the use of deadly force against a property crime is not justified. Also, fortunately or not, the SS agent seems to be a pretty bad shooter.
Saw this earlier, wasn’t going to post it, this is the second time this year. Shots fired, no one hit. WTF. If we did this, we would be in jail.
Maybe they fire rubber bullets to scare off thieves.
They’d be better off yelling, “BANG!”
