Except you are still paying more for the same product, meaning your buying power is dramatically lowered. As an example, a low income family spends 75% of their income on cheap imported products while 25% on US Products, they are not doing this because they hate America, it’s because their paycheck allows it. Now they are paying more for the cheap imported products they were buying and if they wanted to replace those products with US made, they will continue to pay more, so their only option is to buy less. They don’t have unlimited funds to spend, now they are buying less and shifting priorities. They used to spend money on entertainment, 100% US Dollars kept in the US, they Spend less on dining out, 100% US dollars kept in the US, they Spend less on their vacations, (for most US families) 100% US Dollars kept in the US. Driving up the costs of goods needed, lowers spending elsewhere, this Tax is going punish the US consumer. But will also punish US businesses that are viewed as nice to have not needed to live. If I am looking to cut spending the first thing to go is dining out, next is alcohol, then streaming services, then domestic travel, all of which are US Dollars going to US employers who have US Employees.

As I have said so many times before you you and your ilk, this is the priest rabbi problem and neither of us needs to spend time on it.
The things you keep bringing up have already been discussed at great length. Discussing them more seems like a waste of time.
