… just like when I make the apple pie from my mother. Years ago, my folks came out to visit my wife and I after we migrated from NY to MI. In talking with my mom, I said she’s either leaving without her eye teeth or her apple pie recipe. That day, we dragged her out to pick fresh apples and by 10:30 that night after negotiating the recipe from memory the pie was in the oven. My father knew all to well what was coming and patiently waited until that pie came out of the oven to have a slice before retiring for the night. To this day annually for Thanksgiving I make one (or two) on the same board that she used to roll out her crust since 1952 on.

Cookbooks are guides to cooking. Use your taste buds to cook to your liking. You may want more salt and pepper in it. There are only two things that enhance flavors and that is salt and acid as in lemon juice, vinegar and such. Only use table salt at the table. When cooking use Kosher or sea salt. My favorite is Celtic Sea salt.

Try the Baja sea salt…you won’t go back.

I got my MARAS GOURMET Salt from Maras and you are right, that salt is so good. I will be making some really good food now with that salt! Thank you!
