Cripesakes, west Coast is as bad as the North East these days. FOPA (freedom of passage act) won’t work either as your destination state is another 2a

Welcome Daniel 707. That depends on how the States you travel through will use the Firearm Owners Protection Act (1986). Some states use it as an affirmative defense in court (after the arrest), while other states use it as a defense prior to an arrest.
he’s not traveling through any state. He’s going straight from CA where he has a permit, to OR where it’s not valid.

In that case, The Firearm Owners Prorection Act would not help him crossing over the state line.
