Tough year so far - lost 2 in 2 weeks :(

I am very sorry for your loss! My Dad was a Sergeant Major in WW II, stationed in Alaska, helping to run the White Pass & Yukon Railway, which was a supply line for the Aleutian Campaign. He often carried a Tommy Gun, even off-duty. He was a fly fisherman and the engineer on the steam-engine would drop him off at a bridge over a river to fish and pick him up on the return trip. Not bad for a “combat zone!” I miss my Dad, who died from complications from cancer many years ago. One of my uncles, however, brought his 1911 home with him from serving with Patton from North Africa through Battle of the Bulge. A cousin’s widow has it now. I showed her son how to strip it down and clean it. It was first issued in WW I and shows the wear! It had two magazines with it…loaded. One mag had cartridges head-stamped 1932 and the other 1943. I told my second cuz not to EVER sell that piece and to shoot it with modern ammo and clean it frequently.
