My job entails delivering meds to elderly people. I love my job and 99% of the people are really cool. But it means going into urban warzones. One place there is a murder a week, the last one at noon near a school.
Now my job will not allow us to carry. Its a large Medical system and carrying, even with a CCW, is strictly forbidden. But they said nothing about body armor.
Has anyone had a situation like this. And if you have gotten body armor, which type worked best for you.
In construction they can’t require enough safety equipment, hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, FR clothing, gloves, goggles, snow cleats, rescue O2, Radio, location transponder, head lamp, class room training, hands on training etc. but for individuals going into dangerous locations they actually take away your safety devices or don’t provide them to you? Makes no sense to me.

Me either! You would think they would outfit you with whatever you could carry! It would on some level mitigate their liability, at least that’s my thinking… guess I didn’t go to the right university.
@Kenneth94. I wish that I could offer you a solution, but I’ve got nothing. I’ve never had a situation such as you have described, and the protective gear I wore was issued by the US Gov’t. There are many companies that offer body armor, I will offer this link for you to consider:
Be safe out there, and best to you with your search.
I wear a 3a from safelife alot and it is comfortable and easy to hide under a vest but I wanted a 3a+ but they don’t carry any so I ordered a 3a+ from nationalarmor.com it is coming next week.
I cant blame the company as there are like 25 drivers. Outfitting that many would be a little pricey. And I can see not carrying because the liability issues. I mean in todays job market the boss has been forced to hire some people who, to put it mildly, arent the sharpest tool in the shed. I wouldnt trust most of them with a squirt bottle.
Whats really a shame is the fact that urban areas have become such places where putting on Kevlar is now not a crazy idea. And these people who get the meds cant afford to move. 5 years ago my boss laughed at me for suggesting it. Now he just shrugs and says whatever make you safe.
I think there should be two sides to the liability issue if an employer knowingly send their employees into dangerous environments. If an employer refuse to allow them proper protection and something bad should happen, I think the employees’ families should be able to hold the employer liable every bit as much as they are “protecting” themselves from the possible liability of something their employees might do. This is the case for every other “dangerous” environment employees must work in.

This shirt also has (and included in the cost) gives you (2) side panels !
No more unprotected kidneys, spine etc!
And this outfit is COMFORTABLE Brother! Good quality Tee’s, moldable armor
LEVEL3+ Protection
My job does not allow firearms in our company vehicles or on any company property.
I did get myself a modified backpack that has a 3A panel in the back and a second one that can be pulled over my head to cover my front in a hurry.
If I had exposed body armor I am sure someone would complain, but this conceals the armor and the backpack actually has alot of space for my normal laptop and tools.
Personally I do not think any company should prohibit someone taking care of themselves by wearing body armor. I can understand it being non descript.
I like my “Safelife” too. Some armor claims it helps prevent stabbing injuries. Seems like lots on market to choose from. Couple of other pasts posts had some great feedback on the topic. On my wish list is a discrete but good quality body cam. for legal support, God Forbid.
Gosh, SAPI plates were like, 10 pounds each, so they should cure cancer.
My boss tells everyone if it looks bad then leave. There will not be any punishments if you fear for your safety. However, things happen fast. I told management we should have no go zones after dark in some places.
