Part of that video is camera angle,ā€¦

However, if he had lost momentum the vehicle would CERTAINLY have rolled VIOLENTLY back to the bottom of that hill!

Iā€™ve climbed out of a hole called deadmanā€™s at the northern sand dunes here in Colorado.

Not quite that steep, but when the quads front end lifted, all I could do was try to get to the side and watch it go all the way back down end over end!

It still smashed me into the hillside, but steep hill + soft sand = no injuries.

The quad though,ā€¦. I was able to ride it back to the campā€¦ barely.

The guy who owned it only let me slide because I was alive, and I actually tried to take his rig up deadmanā€™s!

"Sebastian Inlet, Ft. Jupiter Inlet, and Boynton Inlet

These inlets are considered Tier Three, meaning they are ā€œimprovedā€ but dangerous."

I docked the Egg at Sebastian for several years before Hurricane Francis destroyed it. I can attest you better know what youā€™re doing or you might witness your boat destroyed running thru the inlet.

This is a long compilation of boats running thru Haulover Inlet. Just watch the 1st 30 seconds to get a taste for what its like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHx5AYhS2sc

Starting at 7:30 shows what coming into the inlet with a following sea can do to you.

IIRC the Columbia river is one of outlets where it dumps into the Pacific. Saw/heard a story of the Coast Guard/Navy had a boat designed to withstand the rollover. The they take rescue teams out to have them go through the experience of a rollover.

Some people are just plain stupid in my mind.

Iā€™m not sure I would admit it if I was rescued by Girl Scouts! :+1: Good on you!

I donā€™t like testing that Darwin Theory with any ā€œHold my beer BS.ā€

Interesting post. My fear of the unknown has kept me from taking on higher risk.

Added a few minor features to my vehicle for those ā€œjust in caseā€ moments.

Heard about some hikers being separated from both their cars and even back packs, so I added an extra mini emergency kit for my cargo pants pocket.

Though, it does not get any more beautiful than that, so I keep going, and wanna go further.

On another post, I added a picture of a creek surrounded by steep cliffs. One gentleman replied it as peaceful looking. It sure was, partly because hardly anyone goes there, because to get to it, one has to walk about only 1/2 mile, but down a steep rocky cliff and then under some giant cliffs which geologists say will fall unto the creek, itā€™s just a matter of time;

So I nervously walked under them, to get those shots and some nice looking fish.

Staying safe is easyā€¦

I peer into the unknown knowing I may not return.

Damned if pushing that boundary isnā€™t a thrill though!!!
