The Spotted Lanternfly

Go figure - you’d think that this pest would’ve first appeared in California, brought in by Chinese ships, and would’ve thrived in the mild climate with its huge fruit industry. Inexplicably, it was first discovered in 2014 in Berks County, PA. I was living in Reading at the time, and the situation became so bad that a statewide ban/quarantine was placed on all produce from leaving Berks. I see parallels, here - like the absolutely stupid importation of kudzu and Asian carp to provide easy fixes - remember Australia importing rabbits? FYI

We have been seeing more flying Squirrels in New England. They seem to be more of a nocturnal animal.

They’re strictly nocturnal, unlike other species, and are clumsy walkers, as well - a friend of mine raised a set of orphans and turned them loose years ago.
