The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys

There was a time many years ago when I thought CNN was the greatest thing ever to happen to Broadcast News. Anderson Cooper was my idol. I loved how he would run around with his personal camera filming documentaries. Christiane Amanpour was the best female journalist in the world and her British accent was to die for. But as a great poet once wrote, “Ah but I was so much older then. I’m younger than that now.” Now days CNN is seen in the airports but no one I know watches this abomination of lies and misinformation. All the same it’s nice to see that God is fair. At least in the broadcast world. If CNN cancels culture then is it not fitting that culture cancels them - forever?

The stats presented in the article show a stunning collapse in viewers year over year. Demo viewers are demographic advertisers target (ages 25-54)

Primetime — Total Viewers/Demo Viewers

  • Fox News: 473 million (-32%) / 130,000 (-58%)
  • CNN: 503,000 (-24%) / 89,000 (-39%)
  • MSNBC: 171 million (-11%) / 105,000 (-20%)

Total Day — Total Viewers/Demo Viewers

  • Fox News: 1,078 million (-21%) / 120,000 (-41%)
  • CNN: 411,000 (-27%) / 72,000 (-36%)
  • MSNBC: 730,000 (-11%) / 72,000 (-19%)

None of these outlets provide news. They are just opinion focused infotainment and the flight of viewers just demonstrate that people are seeking their infotainment/commentary elsewhere, like the jillions of individual channels on Youtube. Some Youtubers have more subscribers than these channels have viewers.

Ain’t competition and choice grand?

A couple of years ago or so I saw Anderson Cooper covering a hurricane in Florida and he was saying flood waters had gotten so high they were covering cars. He was standing in water up over his chest while reporting the incident. A few months later I saw footage online of the exact same reporting he did that day but from a different source where his camera crew were standing 10 feet away on dry land while he was standing in a ditch filled with water, lol. You can’t make this stuff up, unless you’re part of the mainstream media that is.

Yes. In years past they did provide honest, non-biased information. In general, they had integrity. The problem with today’s broadcasts is that they refuse to cover topics that might directly affect their ratings and advertisers. Instead focusing on the acting ability of a few Democrat politicians. If only we could Bud-Lite them.
