The Gateway Arch

Me and wife decided to visit St. Louis this weekend from Little Rock. We went to see the Arch, it has been 15 yrs since we last visited.

In 2018 it became a Natural Park to help fund it and help with tourism.

Now when u go in to see the Museum or go up to the Arch, there are like TSA standards like the Airport.

Strip off all ur dignity (belt, jacket and all ur pride in to a plastic bin, then go into a metal detector)

This really bothers me cause I did not know I had to do this, I had to walk back 4 blocks and take off all my daily EDC carries and walk back (protection naked)

I hope all this trouble does one day save 1 life!!

Even every restaurant and museum had gun free sighs, So I had to finish our visit unprotected. Did not want run into a wanna be security guard ruin our visit.

We did have a great time. I do not want to discourage anyone to come, but I want to inform.

Just found out the Riverboat in the Gateway Arch area prohibits all knives, pepper spray and all weapons as well. It is part of the National Park.

Since I will be in the south KC area in 2 weeks I won’t need to worry victim zones.

Sorry to say, but that’s on you. While I agree with you that these restrictions are ridiculous and only affect the law abiding. There are plenty of resources out there you could have checked in advance to know what those restrictions were, and prevent the walk back to the car.

I’m glad you had an enjoyable visit in spite of the ridiculous restrictions.

Your Health app must be excited to give you high marks for the day :man_walking:t4:

Strange, I never thought of the Arch as a gun-free zone. But, I shouldn’t be surprised since I live in Sacramento County where no one, with or without a permit, could carry in parks. County parks, not State, not Federal. :man_shrugging:t4: County.

Last year before visiting Yosemite, I went online to verify restrictions. The one time I had a similar issue, I was entering the Hoover Dam parking lot when I saw signs that read no firearms allowed. I believe there was some kind of a military checkpoint. I just told the officer I’m making a u-turn so didn’t have to walk.

I took this picture of all the restrictions at the Arch. This is insane just to visit also the cafe and museum as well.

But you can make it inside and walk all through the huge lobby before these restrictions are “ so called” enforced.

I would think visiting Saint Lewis, you would defiantly want to carry.

So, it’s a sharia inclusive zone?

Seems to me like more armed citizens need to walk their dogs there!

Be respectful of the officers that will stop you, and offer them some bacon while they escort you out, they probably don’t understand the capitulation they’re submitting to.

Knives under 4”, no spring assisted blades
 not ideal but good enough for me

So basically a small butter knife.

Used to live in St. Louis North County. Wouldn’t go to St. Louis today without an edc
anywhere! Would have to skip the arch now. It’s OK, those little elevator pods were a bit tight for me anyway. Don’t think an appendix carry would work so well bent over like that

G-10 material, undetectable!
3.25” blade
Wouldn’t try to get on an airplane but everywhere else is fair game.
