The Aftermath: Criminals Go Where the Money Is

In the perfect world, I would be positioned at the top of the stairs, armed to defend my family in their beds. I have set up my home assistant where I can turn on all of the downstairs lights on using an app on my phone, which I would be using to call 911. I do not look forward to handcuffs and jail waiting to try to prove my innocence.

In reality, I would drop my phone, fumble with the locks arming my guns, and sweat up a storm.

“Once you break visual contact, you have no idea what they’re doing and now you’re waiting for your bedroom door to get kicked in.”

Waiting behind a locked door forces any predator to come through the “funnel of death.” If you leave the room in search of the intruder, you might catch him off guard, or you might be the one caught off guard. I prefer to light his ass up as he kicks through the door.

Consider this: A homeowner took up his .357 cannon and searched his house for an intruder. A Sheriffs deputy who was called by the neighbor saw someone with a gun sneaking around in the living room and shot him. The home owner got shot. Better to take up a defensive position and call 911.
