That’s a good question. I honestly don’t know what I would do. I firmly believe the body can’t go where the mind hasn’t been. I try to place myself mentally in situations like this for real life situations like this. With all the aftermath that follows a defensive shooting, and the things that can do wrong from a legal standpoint. I would call 911 and be the best witness I could be. If the situation escalated I would act according…even if that meant drawing my gun to safe a life.

Call law enforcement and remain at the scene to authorities arise.

As an air force security police veteran, my training would tell me to assess the situation and if safe to do so, proceed with caution. However, if I could find adequare cover with a clear line of sight to engage without wounding the clerk, I would have to potentially save their life.

That’s a tough question, logically you should retrieve and call 911 unless you are in a immediate threat which the defender was not before entering the store. But again can you someone under immediate threat and not get involved, that depends on your type of person.
I got myself involved last year when the police officers were chasing a thief at the mall and couldn’t catch him, that I tackled the guy and pinned him down, resulting in breaking my finger, and receiving a bravery award from the County Chief of Police. Thinking about what I did, I think it was very risky.

That is a situation I never want to come across. If you are in my inner circle (wife, kids), I’ll draw to protect them. And fire, if necessary. No question. In this specific situation, I would call police. I would not exit and then come back. Heroes just end up dead. Maybe stay in the general vicinity until the PD arrived. If I was IN the store getting a soda or something, and he entered, I would 100% draw to protect myself, and maybe the clerk. And it would be, ā€œyou come at me in a threatening manner this is going down, right now. I suggest you leave.ā€ Since becoming a Concealed Carry licensee, it is a massive responsibility. The training materials on the USCCA are top notch. I spend a good amount of time reading up and training, thinking these things through. I do not go to gas stations anymore at night. It gives me great peace to be armed. I do not EVER want to draw my pistol. EVER! I focus on being situationally aware and avoiding problems. And not having repeatable behavior that’s exploitable. Thx to USCCA for helping all of us be RESPONSIBLE CCW holders.

I’m not law enforcement! There’s no way, these days, I’m running to my car for a ā€œselfā€ defense weapon and returning to a situation I was never apart of!
Awaiting Daniel Penny outcome!

First thing to do is call the police. Be observant getting a description of the robber, vehicle, and license plate is next. As much as I’d like to say be a good samaritan and intervene I keep thinking about what happened to Daniel Penny in NYC.

First action would be call police " robbery in progress- I’m a ccw holder on scene " . Second action…well not so easy. If I could clearly see what the perp was doing and I had a shot while not endangering the clerk I would tell the perp to drop the knife. The rest would depend on the perps actions. If he came at me with the knife, yes I would shoot to stop the threat.

I do train for this often as one who serves in church security every week I have to stay sharp and know in advance what I’m going to do in a given situation. The last thing I want to do is pull my gun but if I do (am forced to by active shooter ect.) I will use it immediately it will not be used as a threat…. I will not pull it if I am not being forced to use it to protect life….

I would call 911,give a description and plate # of the Black SUV, and the perp. Then start making detailed observations for being a good witness. I wouldnt get directly involved unless the employee was actually harmed or I was directly threatened. Remember, the robber probably has a partner in the SUV. If I intervined directly, I may get popped from behind.

That was almost exactly what my answer would have been except I would have told him to drop the knife and get out while he had the chance. The police have already been called.

Welcome brave Younes.

I live with an old broken finger (but no valor per se from my humble sports injury). For me, life ain’t been the same, still hurts today. I feel you.

Wishing you full recovery though.
