Texas teen fatally shoots friend Princess Omobogie during livestream showing

Sad. So young.

Went off? Probably because a finger was on the trigger. And they did not know any other rules for handling firearms.

What would be the harm in teaching firearm safety in school instead of instilling fear?

Normally, Texans must be at least 21 years old in order to get a license to carry a handgun (LTC). However, in 2021, HB 918 gave Texans aged 18-20 the ability to get an LTC if they are protected under certain types of protective orders or magistrate’s emergency protective orders.

Sad but what gun law could’ve prevented it?

The shooter was 16, so no law allowing possession I imagine. A little training in school would help, especially a lesson in learning when a gun is about to “go off.”
Apologies for the sarcasm, just feel like we’re the only species attempting to disprove Darwin’s law of evolution.

Why does a 16 year old have a handgun? Was that even legal?

“We need more gun laws!”

“We need stricter gun laws!”

“NRA, leave us alone!”

I’m not a fan of the current NRA leadership but do think their Eddie Eagle Gunsafe program might have helped in this case if these kids had taken it when they were younger.
