Surprising History

One of my favorite westerns is Fort Apache - made in 1948. While researching the “Irish Brigade” mentioned in the film, I got side-tracked, and found myself looking at Custer, and found some surprising history. It turns out that his brothers Thomas - a two-time winner of the Medal of Honor - and Boston were at Little Big Horn, and at least one nephew died there, as well. For some reason, Thomas was hated even more than George, and his body could only be identified by the initials tattooed on his arm. FYI
