I know a Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol who saw an intruder at a county facility who had the suspect on his dash cam, who got the whole crime of burglary from approaching his target to departing with loot, arrested him with his loot, and burglary tools, and other evidence of his B&E breaking and entering.
Instead of a light charge of attempted burglary, got him for having committed burglary, got a search warrant for his residence, and found stolen property from many other burglaries that got solved, and this perpetrator sentenced to twenty-years as a career criminal vs. two to three years for attempted burglary, that he likely would only have served half that time, and gotten paroled.
Smart cop.
