Sig 226

The other day at the local pawn shop, I ran across a Sig 226. I wasn’t able to get it but anyways, I’ve never been to a range to rent guns, so im assuming this isn’t a gun you can test out at your local range. If that’s so… Then would it be worth getting if I like the grip?
I know some of this is personal preference but I wanted other people’s thoughts. I know people say you should shoot any gun first before buying but what about the uncommon handgun such as a 226?

The Sig 226 is very common. I have one and love it. It should be in standard rental stock at your local range for sure. I’d say, “It’s a Sig 226 so just buy it” but that wouldn’t be fair

I suggest checking your local range out and see what they have. Get familiar with the firearms, ask for advice, and see what feels best to you.

I don’t think that I’ve been to any ranges that didn’t have any 226 and 229 in multiple variants to rent. They are fantastic items.

Oh wow!! That’s good to know!!! Thanks guys!!
I just hadn’t really seen it in any gun stores, at least I’m pretty sure I haven’t, so I was thinking that it wasn’t common. That’s great to hear tho!!!:blush::blush:

It’s possible they’re sold out with all the gun and ammo sales.

There’s probably still plenty of Glocks to pick from. Lol. I’m just kidding…come on that was too easy.

The 226 is common, we prefer the 226sao legion ,which is not so common. If you find one , excellent condition, pm me, I would like another. My bucket list contains a red dot 226 legion., or a cut slide. But they are scarce. We are glock owners. I had to use glock and sig in the same sentance. Lol

I stumbled into a sig legion dude a couple of weeks ago, that has a collection of legions in almost all calibers, and a dillon press, and maybe 20,000 rounds of brass. Enough powder to burn down the house, garage, and the neighbors.

Sweet! That would be a nice collection

The range that I frequent has the P238, P938, P225, P226, P229, P320 CARRY, P320–M17, and P365 all for rent.

The Sig 226 (MK-11 in Navy speak) is a very fine weapon platform and I wouldn’t mind owning one but it’s not on my bucket list unless it happens to be stamped U.S. Government Property in which case I would pay handsomely for one with the correct ppwk.

Cheers,

You never go wrong with P226 or P229. Most ranges get them for rental.
In my opinion P226 is so great shooter than I’d place it just after 1911. If you like comfortable grip - Legion is awesome.
As other said - SAO Legion is the best model of P226/P229… and of course it comes with flat trigger. :+1:

I think I’m probably the only person with this opinion, but I just never liked shooting Sigs. Over the years I fired the P220 (45ACP), P229 (40S&W), and P232 (380ACP). They just seemed too “flippy” for me, at least compared to competitive brands (rented at the range). I was, however, impressed with their fit and finish. At the same time, I never really cozied up to any Glocks, either. YMMV.

If you like it, I do believe they are good, quality firearms.

Classic Sigs are fantastic firearms, but as some pointed out, they’re not for everyone. I still carry my P229 a good bit and honestly I have to fight myself frequently to not buy more Classic P’s.

If you can rent one and see what you think.

Fair enough. What is your firearm of choice?

Ugh don’t ask me that… They aren’t popular with most folks. Personal preference for me includes some (but not all) Kahrs, HK USPs, S&W M2.0’s, the Beretta 92 series, and the S&W K frame. I also like 1911’s but have not considered them for CCW… at least not yet. I admit I see the advantages of Glocks and some Sigs, I just don’t like shooting them as much. My past experiences with other brands. i.e. Taurus, Ruger, Canik, etc. and models is limited.

For the most part you can’t go wrong with any quality firearm regardless of brand.

I like Beretta 92’s. Being a Carry Trainer fan I checked out the Langdon Tactical 92’s they have. They look really nice. I had a 96 (40 cal) decades ago and really liked it.
