"Being over seventy is like being engaged in a war. All our friends are going or gone and we survive amongst the dead and the dying as on a battlefield
Getting old isn’t for the weak that’s for sure. But still better then being dead.
at growing on 83 i agree
I thought getting old would take longer…
It sure did sneak up on me
Welcome to the community
Amen Craig,
and welcome.
But just remember, Don’t piss off old people.
The older we get, the less that ‘Life Without Parole’ is a deterrent.
Welcome to the community, and that age after retirement sneaks up quickly!
Time flies when you are having fun!
TRUTH! Having been declared DEAD (and still typing) I still believe
being alive is a better choice of the two. We will all be on the other side of the grass
eventually, I just have no inclination to rush the ‘Turnover’.
Welcome to the Fold Brother!
You are right where you’re suppose to be.
Good first post

If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself
Yes Sir, ‘If I knew…’ I wouldn’t have volunteered for that last mission…
Then again I wouldn’t wish clomping around as I do on anybody.
At 82 I couldn’t agree more, but keep shooting my Glock 43X MOS with needed green dot Holosun at the range monthly.
Losing friends today is like it was 55 years ago, but having gone through it before does help cope with the emotions - not easier - but experience helps cope. Still a bit of survivor’s guilt, but more the empty feeling of loss. Knowing we’ll all be together someday soon helps.
Wait until you’re in your mid 80’s. It gets worse. All your pallbearers are deceased. Your hands shake so much that you can’t hold your firearm steady. You just read USCCA.
TRUTH BROTHER!
Lost another Warrior the other day. Part of my Security detail in da ‘MOG’
He was divorced after one too many Tours and DESPRATELY seeking a Wife.
The one he found wasn’t the one.
First things out of her mouth was ‘Why do you need all thos Guns’
Second (I imagine) was ‘It’s me or the Guns!’
(He chose her)
He died the other night in a Home Invasion, He beat the first attacker bloody with his fists, the second, shot him in the head. (She was left unharmed) Yeah, I think so too.
He had a fine house, money and Life (or Death) Insurance.
Sometimes the DEVIL wears Prada.
It doesn’t get easier. We’ll all be together one day, I believe that also
but that is no way for a Warrior to go out.
NEVER GIVE UP YOUR GUNS FOLK’S!
Welcome back to the Fold Brother Ronald !
Keep on Truckin’ with that Glock of yours
You are right where you’re suppose to be!

Holy crap brother. I’m sorry to hear this. I feel so sorry for your brother. Sometimes in the worst of our times, we grab onto the wrong person, and your life can go sideways while you don’t even see it. I did that once when I was near rock bottom. You become blind to their faults.
Sorry for the loss of your brother, Don. Really.
Thank you Brother. It’s appreciated
Saddened to read of this loss! I am truly blessed with a Gun supporting (and shooting) wife of 46 years. God knew what I needed and again blessed me!
