The comment section of that story was insane. No detail other than a child died by gunshot, and the hyperbole on punishing the parents was through the roof.

The Michael Bloomberg’s, the Bill Gates who have done this country great harm with their Social Justice platforms have been the WORST SERIAL KILLERS. The sad fact is that all these people are Liar’s and hypocrites, Preaching DEFUNDING THE POLICE, (when they have 24/7 security and High walls in Gated communities. Abolishing the Second Amendment just makes aware folk’s understand that these phonies have NO IDEA what the Second Amendment IS (just like they don’t know what to do with a Woman—so sad) is scary that because they have MONEY their policies are believed to be reasonable (and sane).

Yes, that is what the story is leading one to believe, and yet, if that was so, why not state that? Additionally, was the firearm legally owned? Many of these cases are felon in possession of a firearm, wherein all the laws on the books about safe storage, etc., are rendered null and void.
I had some trouble comprehending this for awhile as I’m not particularly religious (though that has changed a bit after my sons passing/follow up dreams and visit, and our move to West by God Virginia). Someone told me to think “natural law”, the right and quest for survival, inherent in probably all living beings. Suddenly it made sense.
