Rock Island 1911 Lack Of Firing pin Block?

@Scotty I wouldn’t worry about the safety breaking off. If you hit it hard enough to break it you are going to be very sore. The one thing from the pic that would have my concern is the position of the button in relation to the safety but it looks like it is under the safety at rest so you should be good to go. Mine is about 25 years older than that and a bit more worn in obviously, I have noticed a couple of occasions after wearing it for long periods of time while driving that the thumb safety will be off. That is the only instance where it happens for me and not all the time.

Question. Whose sights do you have? Are they Tritium?

@Craig6 They are the original factory sights that came with the gun. Really too dim now-a-days to notice the glow unless it’s really dark. The newer ones Kimber lists seem to have a green ring around the tritium, but mine are white around the vials.

Only 2 on the 70s & 3 on the 80s. thumb, grip, firing pin lock. Correeect?

Ya’ll keep forgetting the primary safety of all firearms.

The loose nut behind the trigger.

Tighten that one down and barring mechanical failure ANY gun is safe.

So y’all would carry a model 70 1911 comfortably?

I would. :+1:
However it is too big for me and I have respect to 1911s and keep them at home. :relaxed:
(It is more like a good car used every Sunday to drive few miles for fun)
