Along those lines, you can get in trouble in NY for admitting you’re carrying your knife for self defense. No joke. New York really does want everyone defenseless.

Say you’re carrying it because you like steak, and don’t trust the crappy steakhouse steak knives, or anything else, but not self defense. :roll_eyes:

Have a safe trip, Gary. Your plan is probably the safest, even though you’re disarmed for part of it. NY laws are more dangerous than the criminals.

In VA you just have to put your weapon in a locked box or glove box if left in the vehicle. I’ve carried my weapon all the way to Maine without a problem many times from VA. Just obey the speed limits and watch out for the work zone speed cameras…$100 fine.

Both of which are illegal in NYC, and knife laws in some of those same states are harsh, too.

Did you call an attorney? You can also call the state police and ask each state that your permit is not recognized then. I did that and that was helpful. However, I would still ask one of our attorneys. Safe travels
