Chuck Yeager said Olds was the best fighter pilot he ever knew. He was a triple-ace - WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, married a movie star, and retired a brigadier general. He fought to re-equip the F-4 Phantom with guns for dog-fighting, and for establishing the Top Gun School, when the “experts” claimed only missiles were necessary, and dog-fighting was obsolete. He made it a point of going after the enemy pilots, and is the only fighter pilot who downed an enemy plane from a dead-stick. FYI
