When I went through the Navy, you know, when RAWR 
was still the rule of the land rather than the exhibit at the museum. We had range day and if you shot good enough. The Navy would give you a shot at getting your Marksmanship Medals. I had a guy claim I couldn’t have shot as good as I had and it was obvious someone else had to have been shooting at my target.
So the Range Safety Officer cleared all of the lanes and let me reshoot the qualifier. Anytime spent shooting fot fun is good.
1911 $1100, Range time $50, Shooting for your Marksman 
on Uncle Sam’s dime. Priceless. Mmm

There were a couple of us in BCT that after the first day on the range they asked us to be mentors. Seems kids from the West/MidWest had long gun experience and the kids from the East Coast hand little to none.

I think/thought they were gauche (tacky). I didn’t understand the attraction then or the attraction now. If I am going to spend that kind of money on a firearm, it’s going to be for quality not prettiness. Making firearm function better is greater than making it look better. Every. Single. Time.

Yeah they are pretty ugly to me plus no matter what think of Glocks I’m not a fan. Always buy quality first and then make it pretty if you want but quality trumps all. If you like Glocks go for it but just not my thing.

I have 2 Glock types, both 4th Generation. A 30 & a 41, and I own a backup of each. I CC them as they are reliable, and inexpensive enough that I am not going to face a catastrophic loss if the Police have to take it because of a justifiable self defense situation.
