Question: Ohio CHL in liquor store

Sorry to say, I’m unclear on my state, Ohio, and carrying in a liquor store. Example, I was at a store that sells spirits and beers, & related, and they have no sign regarding firearms. Is it legal in Ohio to carry in such a place or not? I disarm before entering since its liquor + a question, but prefer to not disarm. Until i know the law for certain, i cant carry there…

Help???

You may carry in a state liquor store as long as it’s not posted. You may carry into a place that sells liquor for consumption as long as you have a license and aren’t consuming or under the influence and it’s not posted

Here is a link to our Reciprocity Map for OH. You can learn all about carry laws from this map: https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/ccw_reciprocity_map/oh-gun-laws/

This is what I found on the Reciprocity Map:

WHERE CAN’T I CARRY A CONCEALED FIREARM IN OHIO?
Places off-limits even with a permit/license

Any premises that sells liquor or open-air arena for which a Class D liquor permit has been issued, if you are consuming beer or intoxicating liquor or are under the influence, or if posted

With the usual caveat that I am not licensed and cannot give legal advice on Ohio law, the prohibition applies to class D liquor licenses which are by the drink establishments. Unless the liquor store sells by the drink or is posted, there is no prohibition.
