Dear Bride had to take a week off from teaching a few years ago for a family issue. Left notes for substitute teacher, in cursive. One of teammates called her laughing to explain she had to rewrite all of the notes because the substitute couldn’t read cursive. Substitute Teacher? OMG! She’s retired now but we still laugh about it, sort of. Now that’s scary.

My eye (and inner Spelling Nazi) sees it and cringes, too. Here, on YT, and almost everywhere else there is online text, it is far too often misspelled.

curtain s/b certain
immanent, imminent
need to move, relocate (I thought it meant “don’t sit in your car”)
develope, develop
rampid, rampant
your, you’re
noy, not
mourning, morning
Independance, Independence

Good advice.
I live in the St. Louis area and daylight car jackings are becoming a regular news report. Typically, at gas stations by armed attackers. Some other at intersections.

Some are just someone jumping in the car as gas is being pumped, and if it starts, they drive off. Keys left in car.

With others the driver should just put up a big “Steal My Car” sign since they step away from the car and leave the engine running.

If you heard a gunshot and a scream in the morning you certainly had something to report to the police. You had a location. If you are in a rural area where gunfire is common, perhaps that is not unusual. That said, however, in an urban area discharging firearms is illegal in almost every jurisdiction. Illegal activity should be reported to the proper authorities, police, sheriff whomever.

Depending on the neighborhood of course. I lived in Venice CA in my wild youth. I went to sleep to the sound of gunshots at least once a week and woke up many mornings to the sound of a cholo jefe a couple of blocks away celebrating the new day by emptying a mag into the sky.

Yes, unfortunately, just because you report it doesn’t mean there will be a response.
