Anybody have any knowledge on the auto fires for the Sig Sauer P320? I’ve been getting messages about how I should trade mine in for something different because it’s been going off on its own even while holstered. I have the P320 M18 model, and I’m seeing it’s just the base model P320 and the P320X. Not sure if the M18 would be included in that problem. Any advice or further knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

A good way to be sure is to contact sig with the Serial # and ask them if it’s one that could be “upgraded” aka fixed, or not, for the known issue

Most have been fixed or sold with the fix. You can google the fix they did and see if yours has been done or look at the trigger. If it has the thin trigger, you should be good.

Personally, alot of these discharges i dont take stock on the fact its the gun. Of course, no real back story and i dont care if its a cop. Most dont know crap about guns.

Anything man made can fail and i would expect it out of a small start up gun company but sig? Possible but have my doubts on the gun.

I have 2 of the 320’s

There is no need to wonder or say it’s “possible”.

It is proven. As soon as it came out, people did controlled drop tests to test them and bang bang bang they failed. Sig announced their “upgrade” for them due to this. There are videos of holstered guns firing while in the holster.

There is no uncertainty, Sig put out guns that will fire without the trigger being fired, and it’s been happening.

Im not saying companies cant put out bad designs, look at the auto makers…

Sig fixed the problem, i never said their 1st gen 320’s were perfect. As for videos and stuff of the upgraded models, i do have my doubts woth no back story.

Luckily i got 2 of the " no bang, bang without a finger" models

IMO, fixing the problem would include recalling all of the faulty pistols

They did, it was up to the owners to do it. It was a free update.

When i bought mine, i checked the slide to see if the cut was there before buying.

I consider a ‘voluntary upgrade’ different from a recall of a defective product but that’s just me

You gonna go to all the doors of owners and take the gun back? Wear a body cam, i want to see it.

I have never heard of a reported ND with a P320 while holstered, only when dropped, and the M17/18 no problems whatsoever ever, my neighbor has the M18 and trains all the time reholstering, and couldn’t be happier with it.

IMO, fixing the problem includes recognizing the pistols as _defective_ and labeling the fix as a fix…not a “voluntary upgrade”

Yes, let’s “upgrade” the pistol so it doesn’t fail the most basic modern safety test

Hello and welcome to the community @Ryan208, I have 2 320’s and never had a problem, once they announced the issue I researched my serial numbers and was not effected.

How can they fix it the problem with 1st gens if the owners dont comply?

I agree with you that the 1st gens were a bad design. They fixed it with the newer models.

One way to encourage owners to comply is not call it an “upgrade”

Fixing a safety defect isn’t an upgrade, it’s fixing a safety defect
