Price gouging

So what companies have y’all seen price gouging? I know CheaperThanDirt has been caught gouging but I just saw Alamo Ammo charging $96.95 for 25 rds of Hornady Critical Defense 9mm. That’s 3.88/rd… What other companies have you seen gouge in excess like this? I know price increase is going to happen from supply and demand, but are we keeping track of these companies so we can stop shopping there?

Price gougers-
Alamo Ammo
Cheaper than dirt
Palmetto state armory

These companies need to be remembered and avoided after the shortage is over. I’m all for the little guy, but when you screw your base you need to under. Cabela’s and Bass Pro have my undying loyalty right now.

Serious question here, what do we consider gouging at this point? Where I’m at there is nothing under $40 for FMJ in 9mm and if you can find any SD rounds they’re well above average as well. I’ve seen no better online. I get the whole supply and demand game but at what point does it stop getting out of hand?

I have no idea if the distributors have raised prices to dealers but regardless it’s to high for my blood. I’m ok right now and have scaled back my shooting to only what’s needed for training in hopes things get better at some point. I’m not optimistic that’s happening in the near future though.

Palmetto State Armory is very bad also…

I don’t think its the manufacturer or distributor because Scheels, Cabelas, Bass pro and Farm Fleet haven’t raised their prices very much, but you do have to be on your toes to catch them in stock or able to order…

Where as I don’t like the companies raising their prices, it is the free-market system that we enjoy here in America, and this alone should self regulate prices.
Supply vs. Demand

By definition, it does not meet the definition of Price Gouging.

Price-gouging is often defined in terms of the three criteria listed below:[4]

1. Period of emergency: The majority of laws apply only to price shifts during a declared state of emergency or disaster.
2. Necessary items: Most laws apply exclusively to items essential to survival, such as food, water, and housing.
3. Price ceilings: Laws limit the maximum price that can be charged for given goods.

It could be that Bass Pro, Scheels, etc are large enough that they could have an agreement in place that prevents the prices from increasing. Or they could also just say they are big enough and sell enough other things the ammo shortage won’t hurt them.

Palmetto State Armory, Cheaper Than Dirt, etc live and die by ammo and guns. They could be second sourcing the ammo to try and get whatever they can.

Or it could be a combination of all of the above with price gouging.
