Prez. Trump assassination attempt

That one lady had me sweating to be honest. She could have taught a class on how not to reholster. The first time I saw a clip of it, there was no context that this was from (I don’t even know what to call it, nothing I can think of seems adequate) and watching her fumble that reholster had my anxiety up.

Not sure if anyone’s seen this but I like Trump’s response to this. Security risk? Absolutely. But this is definitely the right response.

I had not heard Trump say “let me get my shoes”, until this video. I also noticed his shirt was unbuttoned and his tie removed. I guess when checking him for other wounds, his shoes were removed. Thank God that miscreant was a lousy shot. Maybe he needed new glasses… well he doesn’t now. :sunglasses:

Hear you. Aside from the sadness and terror, I admit - this angers me even more as it puts our rights at ore such risks. I’ll also keep an ear out for what his motives were and what led him to such a crime. I read the rifle belonged to his father; There were reports of him being bullied in life and that bomb materials were found in his home.

Amazing!! I thought Obama promised to close Gitmo. Imagine my disbelief that a politician would break a solemn promise. I’m also “surprised” that the MSM didn’t jump on covering this story… (sarc)

I had a thought about the Secret Service’s counter-snipers. Even though they were facing the same direction, I genuinely don’t think they saw the assassin until he opened fire. As someone who does long distance shooting, I can say with confidence that if you’re looking for a target 500+ yards away, you have a really hard time, if not an impossible time, simultaneously looking for a target 150 yards away. This is especially true if using a magnified scope. This is why, in my opinion, the one counter-sniper looked up when he heard the shots. He was trying to identify the target, and had to break away from his scope in order to do so. It appears that they were looking over the assassin before.

“If that was the case, why didn’t he have to redial? It looked like he was ready to shoot.”

Real snipers almost always leave their rifle zeroed at 100 yards (or 100 meters in other parts of the world), and do distance shooting using the MOA / Mil markings. They calculate how far off a certain target is, then use a hold over to target it. This allows them to engage hostiles at different distances very rapidly.

I understand a lot of people see a conspiracy here, but I don’t. I think the Secret Service counter-snipers acted very well, and should be commended for it. They identified the assassin quickly, changed distances, and took him out with the first shot — to the head.

If there’s a conspiracy, I think it’s in the question of how did a man sneak a full-size rifle less than 200 yards from a former president / presidential candidate? That’s the real conspiracy in my mind.

I D K why a persons motive is such a big deal especially a dead 20 yr old. I mean he was twenty years old he probably didn’t even have a motive a cpl hrs before he did what he did.

I noticed that too. Made me think, I hope I don’t do that. Even if it means a slow re-holster where I need to look at it with my eyes, try to get it right, the first time, not 4-5 attempts.

Made me wonder though, if in the “chaos”, might she have bumped into someone whereby her holster got shifted and needs a tighter fit to her belt. Or perhaps, was there something she noticed that was causing her to be undecided if she wanted to holster or have her firearm in her hand. IDK.

Overall, once the first shot rang out, it was good to see the many agents cover the principal charge.

From the follow-up comments…

“How did the spectators see the gunman before the Secret Service or the police or the sheriffs? How is it possible that they didn’t have somebody already on that roof protecting Donald Trump?… How?”
