Poland has the right idea

All it took was several years of a Russian invasion of their neighbor.

This article is primarily about a pair of Russian tankers that went down, but toward the bottom the story talks about Poland instituting mandatory gun classes in elementary schools.

I personally think that every Allied nation should do this, but of course I’m primarily concerned that the US should do this. I believe war is coming, and I want us to be as prepared as possible, and I believe that the best way to actually avoid a war is to be prepared for it.

Take a look at Israel all students after high school must serve in the Military . I believe this is good for many reasons.

If you look at history, I’m only aware of one time in American history when we went to war when we were “ready”, and that was the first gulf war. We’d been preparing for a war through the Cold War and we were ready. As a result we engaged the 4 th largest military in the world and soundly defeated them in a few days with minimum US casualties. Every other time I’m aware of we were NOT ready -and a lot of American kids paid for it with their lives while we built up. A very good example is Korea-5 years before the US was, without question, THE #1 military in the world. War ended in ‘45 and we demobilized. Five years later we struggled to get forces together to hold the Pusan area. Oh yeah, we built up, but a whole lot of guts got killed in the process (and the politicians wouldn’t let the military win. Vietnam? We were ready for a nuclear war with Russia and perhaps a limited ground war in Europe. We got into ‘Nam and the politicians ran the war. No good.

A very good idea and we should do it here. 13~14 year olds might even be able to defend their own schools. And then there’s a fresh school shooting today in Madison, WI. We must make super-hardened targets out of our schools, public and private. I remember a press photo from years ago showing an Israeli teacher ushering her grade school students into the school: she had a rifle slung over her shoulder.

Elementary School, grade 8 (last one) - theory and safety rules, no live fire
High School (each kind) - live fire

Thx God Polish Government went back to old methods of teaching youngsters at schools.
School shouldn’t be about math, language, history and science only… should also prepare kids to survive in any conditions, war included.

I had a pleasure to attend such classes in High School, back in 1980’s and those were one of best moments remembered…

Hopefully war can be avoided… but skills should be practiced all the time…

More information.

When my grandpa was in school, apparently there was a school marksmanship team. Now, the only marksmanship team I know about is the local military institute. In addition to being a good skill to have, I would have loved a marksmanship team when I was in school.

The Latins had it correct. SI VIS PACEM, PARA BELLUM.
If you want peace, prepare for war.

Hmmm, “Latins” or Romans?

Either way, Truth.
