Pocket dump: where to put it all?

I’ve got a fairly busy house, it’s me, my boyfriend, my daughter and granddaughter, two dogs and two cats. When I get home, the only things that come off right away are my shoes and my jacket (if I’m wearing one).

When I am getting ready for bed and do my nightly pocket dump, I have to be careful where I put things. I have cats that like to play with my keys, knife, and anything else I take out of my pockets.

How do you secure your pocket dump at night?

Granddaughter! You are look way too young for that!
My life is easy. I have an 18 yo cat 10 yo dog and neither bother anything. No children in the house so everything is quiet!

Quiet around here except the visit from my son and granddaughter when they come to visit. Also when my dog decides to bark at the vents.

Haha… don’t need to
0 cats, 0 dogs. Just two kids, but I trust them, they don’t take anything from my pockets :grinning:

I transfer my pocket contents to my next outfit so it is always in my pockets when I put on my outfit for the next day…

Most everything stays in whatever I was wearing when it comes off at the end of the day. I have a “coat rack” on which I hang my britches and shirt and my laundry basket is underneath it. The gun goes where the gun goes and the phone gets plugged in. The next morning I get dressed, take everything out of yesterdays clothes then dump them in the laundry basket. Gun on hip and phone into pocket and out the door I go.

Cheers,

Spouse, 2 dogs, 2 cats, no kids.

I have a small tray that sits on top of the gun cabinet where all those knick-knacks go. It’s maybe 5ft off the ground? Too high for the cats to jump up on. The tray keeps knives, keys, wallet, etc contained. My flashlight goes with me to the nightstand, I have an Olight S1R Baton II that has a “moonlight” mode so I don’t wake up anyone when I get up at night for a sandwich run.

If the cabinet wasn’t available I’d probably put on top of a dresser or somewhere else the cats can’t reach. The tray I’m using is a simple thing I don’t even recall where I got it. Eventually, I’d like to get something custom like this I saw on Reddit.

The cats sleep in a locked up room at night since this misbehave to much at night and mom has to many indoor plants and does not want them in her room.

Firearm goes in my bedside safe. Pockets/ belt get transferred to next days pants.

Carry gun and spare mags, in a quick safe. Everything else goes next to that safe. Knives are on the shelf, keys wallet and change go in a small basket.

4 kids, 2 dogs. The 3 older kids know better than to touch my things without permission, the youngest is just starting to toddle around like the town drunk at brewfest. She doesn’t know better.

I have a dump tray that i put everything but my carry gun in (wallet, small flashlight, folding knife, spare lighter, keys and OC spray). This goes on top of my cabinets out of reach. My carry gun stays in it’s holster in a baby proofed nightstand drawer with the spare magazine in a mag carrier.

I live in a RV fulltime so all my pocket stuff stays in the pockets with acception of my phones and gun. Those go near my side of the bed within arms reach.

Remind me I owe you a beverage at Expo next year for that one, @MikeBKY

I think I’ll have to start putting everything in a drawer or closed box. This morning I spent 5 minutes trying to find my knife… it was in the bottom dresser drawer. The one the cats can get open and sleep in.

Same here! Just finished putting a custom loop together for hubby last night. For my birthday he and my in-laws got me a 2920x and X399 Asus Extreme Mobo that I also put together last night. Glad to have you around
