MFG’s jump through major hurdles to make their guns “dummy proof” yet dummies sometimes prevail.

Nothing can be made completely foolproof because fools can be so ingenious.

Thanks @zee, I really enjoyed the animated video. Watching it gives me a greater respect for the pioneers of firearm design. They obviously did not have the SW tools we have today that help us analize tolerance stack ups, thermal expansion variances, etc. Yet, we still have faulty designs that go into production today, even after analyzing with today’s tools, and countless prototype, low rate production, and initial production testing. The more you know, the more amazed you are that the failure rates are so low.
