Saw a news report of a community holding a gathering to make people aware of GUN VIOLENCE.
I’d like to take a vote on changing the saying, “Gun Violence” to "Person Against Person Violence ".
Isn’t this the true happening?
Let’s push to make the change.
You know it’s agenda-driven when they don’t raise a howl when knives are used.
But gun violence does take place; denying it doesn’t make it go away. If it wasn’t guns, then it would be knives or baseball bats.
The best thing you can do is show up and educate people about the safety of guns in law-abiding citizens’ hands and what this equates to for others around them. The cops will not make it in time, but if you are there, a lot of lives can be saved.
It’s not ever “knife violence”, “baseball bat violence”, “car violence” or even “bomb violence”. So how is it “gun violence”? Another made up term by the anti’s to demonize an inanimate object.
The brainwashed don’t learn. I had repeated conversations with a few people. They’d understand, then a week later be back to sounding like a parrot, repeating the phrases they learned on CNN. I moved, different culture, no need to preach. Finally 
I believe it is because in every other case, people have had a bat in their hand, driven a car, and held a knife, even if it was to cut their tofu, but not everyone has held a gun. In their ignorance, they believe the only thing it is used for is killing people. They overlook why our military carries them and our law enforcement does: it is to protect. To protect everything from other people to your rights as a citizen. Our forefathers knew firsthand and gave us these rights.

In other news, defense is to protect, offense is to kill, or ideally control . Our military and law enforcement do a bit of both ime.
There is nothing wrong with being ignorant; we all are to different things. The problem lies in staying that way or if people in the know do nothing to educate them.

I used to correct people who used the term, explaining that my guns just liked to procreate in the dark spaces of my safes, and that without human contact, a gun just sort of …sits there. It’s been a pet peeve of mine also for the last decade and a half and I’ve been correcting people all this time. The problem is it fits a narrative of a certain group for us to have "violent guns"
When was the last time you heard of vehicular violence or edged weapon violence?
How many people die each year, in the United States, from medical mistakes? Should we have a category for medical violence because of medical malpractice?
The problem is they put the modifier in the wrong place and they do it intentionally. We do not have “gun violence” we have violence with guns. They are attempting to make the firearm look responsible for the act when we all know it is the human who is the bad actor. You never hear anybody referred to knife violence or baseball bat violence. It’s always “somebody with a bat” or “someone with a knife”

I agree, and they are ignorant for believing this trope. So what do we do about it? I myself take a liberal to the range day. The bigger the gun-hating liberal, the better. It is simple; I ask them how they arrived at these conclusions. Where are the empirical events? Most are well; the data bears it out.

The LAST thing I would want to do is teach a liberal about guns. They have a whole lot of learning to do about rational thought & behavior before I would support giving them a firearm.
I suppose they believe violence is OK, but gun violence is stepping over the line.
I agree with you 100%. I spend my days trying to get new people to see the value of having firearms for sport and for personal defense. I go so far as to pay for their first basic weapons class and for younger people I will purchase a range bag ,eye and ear pro. We have to swell our numbers.
The point the anti-gun crowd seems to miss is the fact that we have, as human beings, been killing each other since our creation on this planet. That is never going to change. As a matter of fact it will increase as the population of this planet increases. And they will use whatever tools are available to them at the time. So eliminating the firearm will have no lasting effect it will just be replaced by some other tool as evidenced by other places in the world
I personally refuse to simply let them off the hook by blaming the tool for the murder/homicide

I’ve said many times about my friend who dumped his high point carbine at a pawn shop…. His father had bought him that gun, as well as a Mac10. Both sat in his closet for almost 20 years, rusting. His dad took the Mac back, but when his grandfather passed away he wound up with a bunch more guns.
Another friend and myself tried to take him out shooting and help him understand why his dad and grandfather had so many guns and how much fun they can be.
Total backfire, he went full anti gun only cops and military should have guns, pawned all his guns, but dove deeper into edged weapons especially throwing knives and axes?
My sister is a school teacher, pretty liberal, and definitely somewhat scared of guns, but she does own several and I even got her to shoot my .50!
She even said she’d buy ammo so she could shoot it more next time she could go to the range with me!
One of her coworkers has her Colorado CHP, and carries a Walther PP in .38 and told her that she should definitely try shooting the one I just picked up and consider getting her carry permit as well.
There is certainly hope. Just not for all.

So you’ve mastered your gun at the range now make it a point to get out and take some defensive weapon classes, learn to shoot under the stress of a defensive encounter. Start with with the basics and work your way up to kinetic combat handgun course. Unless you’ve already had such training you will be surprised at how much of a better defender you will become. I’m speaking from personal experience. Keep shooting straight and good luck
