Out state carry

I’ll start by saying I’m very new when it comes to guns in general. Got my CC permit a few years ago and just joined USCCA. My permit is NC and I will be traveling to TN in a couple weeks. From what I see I’m able to carry in TN but with restrictions. Are there any major restrictions I need to be aware of. I do carry hollow points but from what I’m seeing they’re not allowed. Confusing cause I was in a store a few years ago that sold hollow points.

First, welcome to the community!

Looking here;

Your NC permit is valid as TN is a constitutional carry state so long as you’re over the age of 18

As to your concern about hollow point ammo, the only thing I see in that link is this,….

So unless your packing explosive ammunition, you should be safe.

Appreciate it. That’s what I saw and was thinking but wanted to be absolutely sure.

Welcome to the family brother @Vernon33 and we are glad you joined us. It doesn’t make sense to me for any state to outlaw hollow point ammo because it is the safest ammo to use. Although there are states that outlaw them. :man_facepalming:

I wasn’t raised around guns so I wasn’t sure if hollow points was what it was talking about. Trying to make sure I follow the law as written. Appreciate all the comments

I wasn’t raised around firearms,…..

However, my mom bought me a high end air rifle when I was about 7 and turned me out on the world with it!

Got caught shooting pigeons at the grain mill when I was maybe 12?... Thought I was in a truckload of trouble (trespassing and all). The owner actually hired me! $.25 per dead bird at the end of the day!!!

Got the cops called on me a week or so later when someone saw me on the roof with a rifle….. :cry:

The mill owner covered for me, but in hindsight, yeah….. :man_facepalming:t2:

Didn’t start my firearms journey until 2009 when I bought my first home…..

It’s been downhill since then! :wink::smiling_face_with_sunglasses::smiling_face_with_sunglasses::smiling_face_with_sunglasses::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

So, guns, yeah…. 4+ decades of guns!

Hollow Points that you buy in the store are not those in this TN Code. T There is no explosive material in the ones you buy over the counter.

Who am I you ask… not sure how to answer other then a dad and a husband of 27 years. I started carrying to have a way to protect my family. One night when I was home sick my oldest who was 15 at the time called me upset. A lady had gotten upset with my wife for some reason. She followed them to a restaurant and pointed a gun at him from her car. That was a wake up call. I’ve not had any training other then asking lots of questions and going to the range. I am going to take some shooting lessons from a train professional in a couple weeks. I’m fortunate to have some friends at church who has helped me a lot and I’m not afraid to ask the dumb questions.
