One big beautiful bill passes in House, but doesn't include no tax on S.S

CONGRESS left it out of the bill, not the president. It sounds like a maneuver so Mike Johnson can say “We supported the president” by passing the bill, and then the president takes the slings and arrows if he signs the bill into law. It’s either that, or the president REJECTS the bill because the no tax on S.S. isn’t in there, and Congress gets what it wants by delaying the bill (And, his agenda) further. THEY ARE THE SWAMP!

I haz a question Ron…
My Sister and I are both on Social Security
Her’s is the standard retirement SS, mine is the Disability SS..
Neither one of us are taxed?-----so my question is who is being taxed
then (and why?)

I don’t know how disability S.S. works, but in regards to regular S.S. , taxes on Social Security benefits are applied, based on a beneficiary’s combined income, which includes half of their Social Security benefits. Depending on their income level, up to 85% of benefits may be subject to taxation, impacting how much retirees ultimately receive.
Most people can’t live on S.S. alone, so they have jobs in addition to collecting benefits. At a certain threshold, recipients are taxed $1 for every $2 they earn (50%), and it goes up from there, to up to 85%.

We are. Just finished our taxes. We filed an extension yet we were still taxed and may incur penalties for not “estimating” .
So we were asked if we wanted SS to take money out on a quarterly basis, I said NOT A CHANCE!

Thank you Ron.
( As my Sister just said ‘We must be on the bottom rung of the earnings ladder…’)
I don’t know I thought we made incredible money over the course of our Career’s?

I don’t know what I’d do with MORE MONEY? (SARC ALERT!)

Disability is not taxed, with one exception. The exception is on the back payment, if any, awarded at the time disability is initially approved. This bill does not change that.

There is some tax relief for seniors included.
It’s section 110103 which begins on line 13 of page 762

‘THAT AIN’T RIGHT SCOTT!’
WE PAID OUR FRIGGIN’ DUES (for YEARS!)
The tax system is unfair (not saying anything new and earth shattering here I know but this is ridiculous!)
We are taxed from Birth till after death (fortunately we don’t care about death taxes but our families do!)
I sure hope the Prez does abolish the IRS and we can PROSPER on ’ EXTERIOR Revenue Service’ (Tarriff’s and Imports)
rather than bleeding us dry!

Thanks Z. Can you believe the length of this bill? We all need lawyers just to find out what’s in it.
