You can if you want but I’m not gonna, and before anyone says I’m a cop hater I won’t do it for anyone unless It’s a family member and a close one at that. You can probably get away with it if it’s a cop who has good sense but I have had one state trooper and a chief of a big police force tell me that cops don’t like a armed citizenry any more than a anti-gun lib does. I understand what you are sayings. The things you say would also apply to defending any third party that was in danger of serious bodily harm or deadly threat. Any interference in this type of incidence could really be bad for you, however you would also ask yourself if you can stand by and watch someone be beat to death. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Having spent over twenty years as a police officer, I hope that someone would help me in this situation.
I’ve said on here before that unless the person is knocked out and the attacker is stomping on his/her head I’m not getting involved. I don’t trust the police nor the DA nor the courts nor a jury of my peers.

I’ve literally seen this happen on the streets of my city! ( twice ) LEO on the ground being beaten, and in fear of losing his weapon to the perp, when a CCW gun carrying civilian jumps out of his car and is begged nearly instructed to shoot! The guy became a hero in our community. After taking his firearm for evidence, many gun stores offered and did issue our civilian with a replacement firearm!
Bravo for those CCW holders. This is the situation where knowing your state laws help. I know my state laws and if I were to help that doesn’t mean I won’t be put through the meat grinder just because the DA or the just-us system wants to do it. The situation is going to have to exceedingly surpass what a reasonably sane minded would consider.
All I can tell you is that they have lost my trust.
I’ll back up a bit on this one because I could not stand by and watch someone get beat to death if it was someone who who couldn’t defend themselves or a child or an animal, if I see someone hurting a innocent dog or something like that I’ll be in that mess fast possibly faster than if it were a person because at least a person can scream HELP! But it does depend on the situation like if I saw someone getting boot stomped because he beat up or raped someone’s daughter or something I would probably just walk away. But it depends on the situation 100%.
My standard response to that is “You are what you eat, D*ck head”.
